Help! I took the guts out of a Danelectro Honeytone amp and mounted them in a cigar box and now the amp won't work. It powers up fine and I'm getting some very faint noise from the speaker when the instrument is plugged in, but it's a no go. Does anyone out there know where I went wrong?

Rick:
I just did the same thing this weekend. Took the Honeytone apart and put it in a Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve box I had. Everything works ok. I actually got a little bigger speaker and spliced that in. I cut out part of one side of the box to mount the controls to and make that the top. Box was to thick to just put in the pcb and controls so had to cut a metal plate and mount the controls to it then screw the plate to the box. Not sure what your problem might be unless one of the connections got damaged. I have heard that it is easy to break the 1/4 jack connection on the pcb. I had a problem on one of my cbg's sort of like yours, just a faint noise. Turned out to be a piece of electrical tape came loose and the jack plug was not making a good connection.
Good luck. Hope you work it out.

Ted: That's a nice job. Afraid mine is not that slick looking. But just my first try. Will get some pics up asap. Just finished by sixth cbg so have to get going on pics of everything. Thanks Tom

Jim, if you post some good closeup pics maybe we can figure it out. Wonder if something is shorting to ground?

Sounds cool Tom, post some pics.

Here's the one i made out of the Fender Mini Tone Master.

The knobs are made from the handles salvaged from used foam brushes and the position dots are the end of a stick of incense.

Wow! I NEVER thought that a brand new battery might be the problem, but when I tested it, it turned out to be bad. The amp is up and cranking and matches the new uke perfectly. I found an old display case in the alley, added some foam, and voila! a go anywhere rig. Thanks for all your suggestions fellas.

Hi Ted: Finally got around to taking some pics of my first six cbg builds and the amp. Posted on the photos page. Still learning. Still experimenting. And having fun. Tom
