3 String Fretless CBG with Bob Harrison hand wound pick up

3 String Fretless CBG with Bob Harrison hand wound pick up

I don't know what number to call this build? I've made a plank Diddley Bow, a Canjo and a 2 string CBG, but that was just a test run really, made with a cheap bit of pine and a box I didn't really care about (having said that I love playing it!!)
This one feels like my first "proper build" as it has a wooden box that I like, and a maple neck.....and of course the Bob Harrison pick up, which is what prompted me to make it!!
I made a saddle and the bridge and nut are made from unbleached bone.
I was pretty slow building this, but am really pleased with the result!!
If you haven't already, check out Bob's website!

i noticed your "i hate soldering" comment . i will pass on a tip that i got years ago and saved me TONS of time and profanity . plumbers flux , its super cheap here a 1 usd tin lasts forever , and it works like a charm . most times when i give this advice a bunch of "properly schooled electronic engineer types" get quite upset . you must REMOVE the flux when its cooled . you use a tooth pick or needle to apply a tiny amount to everything you solder and it just flows and sticks like nobody's business . i use alcohol or thinner to remove it . the flux is acidic so it may end up harming the trces , but ... i have stuff that i made in 1998 that i didn't clean the flux off and it runs fine with no signs of acid damage .
if you are having any issues with the pick ups i would recommend a jfet preamp , i have one in my cbg it solved the low output problem i was having . it runs off a 9 volt that switches on when you plug the cable into the jack . the battery lasts forever , and it only has 4 components , super easy build . you could also make this as a pedal or put it in an amp , but = more $$ .
