I am thinking about starting to construct carrying cases for CBGs. Does any one think it is a good or bad idea. What do people use to transport them now ? I cant find any for sale so I think its a good idea but would people buy them?

did you build those and do you sell them
I think its a good idea, the hard part will be coming up with a universal size to fit most CBG's.
there have been some discussions here in the past on this. I got a lot of good photos from guys a while back on a similar discussion. Not sure if it is still in my history of posts though. let me look. Some guys/gals use hard shell acustic cases or build their own. One dude had built some cases out of cardboard.
here is the link to that case discussion. Some good builds in it.

The few times I've transported mine, I put it in my cheap rifle case. Something like this:

I think you may have something there. I, however, have too many various cases as it is. I've found that they usually fit in either a baritone uke case or a small guitar case (like the baby taylor). I know that Jon Pruett buys cases from Toys R Us (to fit their little tiny guitars).

A padded gig bag for a mountain dulcimer works for shorter instruments.

I've also used paintball gun padded bags for 17" scale instruments.

Jess http://www.cigarboxnation.com/group/customguitarcase is building these really nice cases.
I've been considering duct tape/ card board for custom cases.  Seems like a match to me for some reason.
where does one get there hands on a lowe cone
Yep - in the Toys R Us music area they have a soft side case that goes on sale occasionally at $15 each. I wouldn't use it for plane or train travel, but it's great for running around locally.
