DYI magnetic pickup

Found these coils in a old phone, they were used to drive a ball bearing in the ringer circuit that included 2 small brass bells. Each coil is 10k ohms. I plan to grind magnets to fit the core of the coil. Hopefully each one will work with 2 or 3 strings.

Comment by BrianQ. on January 19, 2023 at 11:53am: Neodymium magnets are the best for small coils, they’re definitely one of the strongest magnets for pickups? 2 in parallel would cut the impedance in half, then you would either need to plug into the Lo input on your amp or use a Preamp/Lo-Hi Z impedance matcher to get the right output?
