I have a cb gitty delta 3 pole pickup harness wired to the jack. I tried to add a volume knob but im not getting any sound? Is it as simple as adding a knob to a piezo? Ive done that without a problem. Also how close to the strings does the pickup need to be?

Thanks

I'll answer the last part of your post questions. Pickup height.

This is a basic part of guitar setup and applies to all guitars. If you want lots volume and response from the pickup, then you adjust the pickups to their highest height(closest to the strings). This can often lead to shrill treble and boomy bass or muddy tone though.

If you want good tone and good response you first adjust the pickup to it's lowest height(farthest away from strings). Then you slowly adjust the pickup higher to get the tone you like with the right amount of response from the pickup to get great tone and volume. That can sometimes result in a pickup that looks higher on one side than the other, but the results are what you want and nobody will notice the askew pickup when looking straight at the front of the guitar anyway.

Remember that any certain pickup heights that are recommended may not be right for your guitar or your preferences on sound. All guitars will sound different from one another and most people have different ideas of what sounds good.

I have had 2 of these pick ups that did the same thing . I'm gonna quit ordering them.

Thanks Jerry. I found a few broke wires and unwraped the tape on the coil and found more broke wires. Its toast.

I have a new one coming

i would say put it on a multimeter to see if its shorted or open.,.,one break in the hair thin wire,., or a short in the coil would lead to a dead pickup.,.,I have gotten lucky in the past and found the break on the outside layer of the coil., I just unwound a few turns, twisted the ends together, and stuck the twisted pair in a hot solder ball.,., the pickup came back to life.,.I have also seen old pickups get soaked in contact cleaner, and the coating on the wire breaks down, resulting in a useless coil.,If it did not work out of the pack I would consider returning it.,I believe Gitty has good customer service.,

Thanks Taffy, ill spend some time on it before it goes in the extra parts box. I ordered a new one to finish my build for now.

Hi Fantacone, try looking for a dry solder joint first, and check your lead and jack plugs.

Well im gonna call it and say the coils bad. I rewired it straight to the jack and got it to work for a second then nothing. You should be able to take it out of the packet, plug it in and get noise, right?
