how can I test circuit continuity of twin piezo pick-up installation?

I bought by mail a couple of twin piezo pickups.  On inspection I found the cables connecting the discs to the pots to be so long that I couldn't install them into the narrow profile cigar box.  As I had a spare unit to use as a pattern at I decided to cut all the original cables and solder much lighter, shorter ones in their place.  Feeling very proud of my work I put everything together and tuned the guitar only to find it sounds fine as acoustic but no effect with the amp.  I have checked the pre- and amps work fine so the fault is in my soldering (?).

Is there a way to find where the fault may be? Should I cobble together a battery powered circuit ....... or should I be swatting up on how to use a multimeter.  Many thanks.

(Isn't this a fab site So much info!)

Just had to take the wind right out of the sails didn't you? LOL if it's a 9v battery, touch the terminals to your tongue. If you get a tingle its good! If you get knock on your ass, you lived a tazer!

Some advice needs thinking about :-(

An alternative way to check it. Tell your wife to close her eyes and stick out her tongue because you have something for her to taste. Then you touch the battery on her tongue, If she slaps the shit out of you, it's still good!

Some advice needs really thinking about!

or you could just test it with your other meter....  wait? doesnt everyone have 2 or 3 multimeters???

Where is the fun in that and miss the surprised look on her face as she wipes the smile off of yours!

How did you make out with your testing?

Apols for silence....busy.  I've checked all again but still no amplification.  No worries though, it is now an acoustic, fully strung and tuned.  Many thanks for help and friendly co-op I hope I might return the favour one day.  Col.
