Hi everyone!

After watching Keni Lee Burgess's videos and taking up bottleneck blues last year (6 string resonator) I'm going to start my own cigar box guitar build. The only problem is that I'm strapped for time and I don't all the hand tools I need for the wood working. Because of this I've decided to purchase a pre-made neck. I tried to do a forum search and nothing really recent came up, sorry if I missed something.

My questions:

1. Does anybody here sell pre-made necks?

2. Has anyone gotten them from Ebay or Backporchmojo.com?

Also, this is an addicting website!

Hey Grant welcome to the nation. What are you going to build 3-4- 6 string? I have thought about building necks for sale but have not really done anything about it... Darren is a good guy I know that he has built CBGs for Keni and there are all kinds of builders here at the nation. Welcome to your new addiction (something we all know a little bit about)....
My plans, for now, are to build a 3 stringed beast!
Yes you can buy them, but beware a really cheap neck will be more trouble than it is worth so don't go bottom line, backporchmojo does good work.
Cheers Ron.
Yeah I checked out ebay, they look like they're really nice, but I'm worried about the quality...

Thanks, they seem to have one for a decent price.

Anyone here have experience with that neck?

I do not think you will go wrong with Darren at Backporchmojo. I have purchase two offset necks from him. The first was a diatonic (Dulcimer tuning) kit with the fret slots pre-cut and I installed the frets myself. It was not a hard job. The second was a normal neck with the frets pre-installed. His prices are reasonable and he has always been very responsive to my requests for help or information. I do not know if he has 6 string kits but his 3 and 4 string kits are very complete. If you are limited for tools I suspect you can get him to supply the box and precut for the lid relief. Drop him an email and tell him what you want to do. If he is not to backed up in the shop he will usually get back to you the same day if not in a few hours. Good luck
Thanks everyone!

I'm going to contact Darren later today.

:)
if you're strapped for cash, a sharp pocket knife, sand paper, and some patience will go a long way. maybe you could borrow a drill from someone for the tuner holes.
