Hello everyone.
I have just completed my first electric diddley bow and have a question about frets. I have 'fretted' my diddley bow by hammering in nails as a visual marker. I used an online website to work out where the frets go by measuring the sacale length. Having done this i found on google the notes on a standard guitar fret board. My instrument is tuned to open a so i placed markers on the whole notes for 2 octaves on the diddley bow using google as a referance (5th string on a standard guitar) Was this the right thing to do to work out where notes are? I have marked frets 2,3,5,7,8,10,12,14,15,17,19,20& 22 which ( if im correct ) are notes b,c,d,e,f,g,a,b,c,d,e,f,g.
Thanks in advance everyone.

That is a great idea, thank you. I have played some familier songs and they sound right so my marks must be close. What i wanted to check on was that the notes on the 5th string of a standard guitar appear at the same frets alone my string which is also tuned to a. Thanks again :)

Use a tuner to check it,

If you are marking out the notes for an A-Minor scale (relative minor for the C-Major scale) you have the right notes

la-ti-do-ray-me-fa-so-la-ti-do-ray-me-fa-so-la

-----

just a little theory for ordinary folks, a major scale goes

do-ray-me-fa-so-la-ti-do

and it's relative minor scale starts at -2

la-ti-do-ray-me-fa-so-la

Thanks JL. I will check with a tuner :)
Just got home from work and checked with a tuner like you both suggested and its pretty much spot on. Have to be carefull not to bend the string at all but im pretty happy with that. Thank you Erasmo and JL for your help.
