  2. How many do you have?

  3. What slide material do you favor?

  4. What material do you not like so much?

5. Do you have in slide technique advice?

Pinky finger: my fave, a tapered Dunlop brass.    Ring Finger, 1B.  A ceramic by Dave Lynas -which I like better on some songs.   Badfinger a bottle neck from my friend, the Maddog.     Pointer finger, a big socket HEAVY!    Thumb- I really like a shot glass for a lap diddley.

Nice collection, Chuck.   I don't like unpolished copper.  I think I'd like it smoother and polished.

Looking at everybody's slides, I think the slide business would be a good business.   Offer 4-5 different materials and an array of shapes, lengths, cut outs.   Still it's pretty cool to go with a common object like sockets, bottles, bottle necks, polished copper.

I think I have 14 counting two shot glasses.

dont understand the shot glass... take a lot of moleskin to get them babies to fit!! or are they strictly for lap ?

Hi. Here'sy Slide collection.

Glass: wine bottle neck.
Thin walled glass slide. Same kind of glass as a medicine bottle.

Metal:
Long steel slide, great for 6 string guitar.
Thin copper stubby. Great for individual notes.
John Pearse Edge pocket knife style slide. It's made of Bell brass, so it sounds great. My favorite as of yesterday!

My techniques:

For the normal slides, I either wear them on the ring or middle fingers. It's good to wear the normal and stubby together, because you can play bar chords, and individual notes. For the Edge, I wear it either between my ring and middle fingers, or ring and pinky fingers. One thing that's cool about it is that it's counter balanced, so if you don't wanna play slide, it can swing out of the way, and you have 3 fingers for chording.

I'm in the mobile version. Desktop view isn't working well.
Here are my slides. I had to switch to Desktop view.

Nice collection, Dustin.  Including the 'butter knife' type.

Thanks. The brass one is my favorite. Thinking of doing a review of it.

I have many, but these are my favs at this time. In the foreground is a ring slide, Lenny Poggan's Blue Slide. Next are 2 ceramic (favorite material) made by Doc Sigmier of Rocky Mountain Slides. In back, right is a 3/4" X 2" spacer I found at a John Deer store. And last but not least, a nice thick refined bottle neck. I'll also use anything that works in a bind.
My favorites are the RMS ceramic ones. I've known doc for a long while and in addition to being a great player, makes a beautiful product. It's always a joy to stop by his shop in Pagosa Springs, CO and try out one of his new signature series. Check him out at http://www.rockymountainslides.com/
I wear them on my pinky , so size can be an issue - skinny fingers sometimes makes for a sloppy fit.
