Thanks Gary! It was a lot of fun to make! I love the slogan "Nothing quiet about 'em"  :) It ended up with a really unique sound to, like something between a bell, a banjo, and a steel drum

Nice work.

Loved making this MONTECRISTO uke! This one is also up for sale if you're interested :) https://www.facebook.com/DoubleDiamondLutherie/

My first uke builds from CG Gitty kits. Large cookie tins were used for the bodies. I built an internal structure to support the neck.

woohoo!! this art deco/art nouveau inspired uke took me almost two years to complete... the neck came from a uke that was made some time in the early 50s and features a M.O.P. (faux i believe) fingerboard with gold painted trim... i hand bent all the copper wire which was an arduous task at best! i used a bit of abalone, a very pretty rhinestone, and a variety of metals for what i think is a very cool look... i made a nice soundhole cover out of indian silk and banjo tuners for more accurate tuning, a brass bridge, piezo p.u. with volume and tone, and a rhinestone festooned chrome drawer pull for a handle... it's a rather weighty instrument as ukes go, but it plays well...

this will be going up for sale soon on etsy as more of an art object than anything else with a roughly $350 price tag...

I want to join the contest!

I don't want to win, I don't want to take the opportunity away from some else, I would not feel comfortable accepting winner at cost of competing against a person who just joined the hobby.

I only wanted to share my photos for inspiration and to say I too am also am a "new convert" to the Uke movement.

After seeing a photo of Kamaka I became inspired and spent 3 weeks last month on a crash corse trying to learn everything I could about ukuleles, their history and construction fascinated me....and Bill Jehles "Cigar Box Ukulele" book is a must have for everyone! Go to amazon and order a copy, I got mine and read it cover to cover the first day.

anyways here goes, I have a sound sample, looks are important, but my interpretation of this hobby is all about the sound of your instrument compared to a store bought factory made instrument...anyways, have a listen

Looks and sounds great BeetleJuice. Yup, My Dog Has Fleas tuning sounds right to me!

I agree that Bill's book is a must have. Detailed photos and a measured drawing and obvious love for what he's doing. Bought the book from Bill at the Huntsville Cigar Box Festival this summer. Great guy.

One note: on Amazon, he's "William J Jehle."
