First: sorry about the image quality.

I need to ground my jack to my bridge so I went and got a solder gun and wire.

In the pic below I have there is the white wire (I assume lead) that comes from the center of the black wire. It is soldered to a post that comes from the center of the jack.

The other wire from the black (I assume ground) is soldered to the large side tab.

There is an unused tab from the center next to the one the white wire is attached to.

The jack is connected to 3 piezo discs.

--------

Do I need to solder my ground wire to the large tab the black wire is connected to?

Just want to make sure I get it right the first time.

 Thanks.

I really can't tell from the picture, but the jack plug has a "point" a plastic ring (probably black),then a long shaft that has the cover that screws on it. The point is the positive and that is the positive from your piezos. It will be the red wire. Solder the wire to the terminal that touches the tip. The long part of the shalt will be the part of the terminal that touches the long part of the shaft.

The outer metal part is ground,  the center pin is the signal...

OK thanks guys. Soldered up to the outer part where the piezo was wired and it cut the hum :)

What do  you  mean, cut  the hum, there should be no hum. Are your strings grounded?

No, they weren't, that's why I needed ground wire.

Got it sorted now though, thnx

I'm glad you got it fixed. Two years ago I didn't know about the grounding of the strings either. I learned it from somebody on this forum. Keep it goin'. Keep buildin' (;-D)

Odd, I really haven't had hum problems on a piezo, mag pup? Certainly...
