So, I was messing around with creating surveys through Google Forms and thought it might be fun and informative to make a questionnaire for the CBG community to get an idea of what everyone is doing out there.  Just some basic questions about what you're building, playing, buying and selling, and how you're tuning.

I wasn't able to embed the form here, so here's the link:

The Great CBG Survey of 2016

There's no login required and no personal information is collected.  You'll be able to see the results of the survey when you're done and I will update this post with results as we go.  I'll also provide the raw data to anyone in spreadsheet form if you're interested in analyzing further.  This could be useful information for builders and sellers or anyone who is curious.

So if you're like me and have wondered if GDG is really the king of all tunings, whether 3 strings are more popular than 4, or what kind of pickups most people use, take a few minutes to fill out the form.  The more responses the better, so share the link and hopefully we can answer some of these burning question!

RESULTS:

UPDATED 1/18/16:  Thanks for the participation everyone!  We received 85 responses in the first week.  I'm going to leave the polls open going forward so go ahead and take the survey if you haven't already.  For those who have taken it, here's a link that should take you to the summary of responses.

Just finished the survey. Cool idea, it will be fun to see the results. Thanks for doing this turtlehead.

It should be interesting PA.  Thanks for jumping in!

Yep, there are a lot more questions to ask, but I wanted to keep it fairly short to get us started and cover the big picture.  If this goes well, I'll do more and will be sure to ask for suggestions for questions.  Some of the repetition was necessary based on how people answer, but I think it could be streamlined in the future.  Thanks Wayfinder!

Took the survey. Really well put together.  Looking forward to seeing the results. This would be cool to see how it compares year after year.

My thoughts exactly Cause.  Hope to see a big response.

I'm with ya Glenn, been using Docs and Sheets for a while, but never knew how cool the Forms were!

all done,great idea

Done! Will be interesting to see the results.

that was fun, easy and enjoyable

I did it too. Being an absolute beginner the questions where an option was 0 or 1-5 were pretty much always 1-5, even though the answer was 1. Still, there has to be categories or there'd be different answers all the time I guess. I found it really interesting to see the results at the end. Seems I'm about average even though I'm so new. Interesting. Oh and best of fortunes with the survey and future ones :)

Thanks for joining in Dani!  I hope we get a wide range of responses.

Wow. Nice survey. Good basis to start with. Next one should be about the types of materials used for necks and fretboards and such.
