Hey all. First fail on my rod piezo bridge. Tried to set a brass key on top of bridge with hit glue. No volume :/. I'm going to strip this off and start over but was wondering what other creative things you guys are up to with these. I was going to try to glue a rod to a 1/4" bolt with nuts on the sides for my next one but I am sad the key didn't work.
Any tips out there? Any ideas for other bridge types and materials to use with a rod piezo? Thanks in advance!
Peace all.
Ab

Hey Ab - with a rod you need to get good contact on top of the rod - the glue may absorb too much vibration.

Seems like only one file at a time is attaching...

I have never worked with a rod piezo, but maybe the trouble is not with gluing it to the key, but something more simple. Test the piezo before gluing. I've worked with piezo disks and they glue to anything and work for me. Perhaps a bad solder joint/connection is the answer.
Good luck

Cut the rod slot so that it sticks up about 1/2 of it's thickness (1/16th inch) above the wood.  Small amount of hot glue in the slot, push the rod in, add a little more hot glue over the top and press the key over the top exactly where you want it.  When you put the strings on, it will depress the key and the humps on the rod and give you the pressure that you need to get a big sound.  Use only a dab of hot glue.  As Greg says, test first!

Here take a look at some of my rod bridges...might give you some ideas. Must remember...the rod needs direct pressure on the top, such as a saddle to work right. ...http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/photo/slideshow?albumId=2592684...

I use these quite a bit before I used recycled wall warts. I put them flat on the soundboard with a piece of metal or hard wood such as oak between the pikup and the strings. Nothing but string tension to hold them down. The disc piezo is glued inside a cap from a pasta sauce jar

Never use glue with a rod piezo !!!!!...the rod should just slip in the bridge base slot and the saddle should just be snug in the slot on the top of the rod.

I tried to link to one of my pics. The link wouldn't work.

It is a fretted bridge with a 1/8" rod piezo slot on the bottom. The rod piezo just reaches below the bottom of the bridge and rests on the top of the guitar. Nothing is glued.

If you go to my pics, I think it is the latest one.
