Hi. I'm Blues Frog and I can't stop thinking about, (and building) cigar box guitars.

I first discovered Cigar Box Guitars in Dec ember when I was Christmas shopping. Since then I've built 5 and bought two.

Recently I bought materials to build 4 more, but am working on 6 more. I need HELP, and there's more in the making. I can't make it through the night without thinking of a new design.

I recently started some new necks. I started at 4, and has grown to 5, but there's a sixth one that I have in my head.

Somebody help me. I've tried drinking, drugs, and other addictions, but nothing can fulllfill the need to build MORE cigar box guitars. What can a poor musician do?

sorry buddy, I finished #43 the other day... No relief in sight.

Oh My Freakin Deity!

I see an antique shop and I wonder "what do they have that I could use to make a git outta?"

Flea markets, lawn sales, same thing.

I may have to quit my job just to have time to make all the gits I see in my head.

There is nothing that you can do.

You are doomed.

Condemned to a life of cbg debauchery...

Hear my CBG now, understand me later

People tell me I should sell them. How is that going to help?  And what's worse is everyone on this site supports my addiction. AAAGGHHH! Curse you Ben "C.B." Gitty!

Question: is this type of addiction covered under my insurance?

At least when I sell them, there's room for more and it helps recover the cost. No, it won't cure the addiction, it just fuels it. The whole nation is basically a support group, but there's no cure.

Create a new room in your house to hang your treasures! Tell your wife/husband/other person its part of a rehab program. Build the room in the shape of a guitar, that could help. I am in the middle of #32. Wife says I need to sell a few to pay for the addiction.( I may sell one of the kids instead)

Building these is therapy in its own right and helps put the outside world in perspective.

Good luck

My name is Bob and I too, am a CBGaholic!

Sooo, are you saying that you can't stop, or you just don't want to stop? Do you see a different box and wonder what it would sound like? No problem, don't fret about it (actually I prefer fretless builds anyway). This is a normal process and nothing to be ashamed of. We can all quit anytime we want, but why would we want to? Maybe you should try a hubcap build, or a canjo, or a diddley bow. I'll get back to you on this, but right now I have three builds in the works out in the garage and i have this closet full of really neat boxes calling. I really need to get more picture hooks so I can hang more in the hall...

Sure I can stop making them anytime I want. Then I would just go back to making my punched lanterns

Have you considered making a canjo out of one of those?

I hadn't until you mentioned it. That might be a really cool idea. I've made many lanterns out of coffee cans also, which would be perfect for a canjo.

Now you've got me thinking Duck!
