I got a free quart of neatsfoot oil a week ago and I am wondering if this stuff would be good to put on fret boards?

any and all input would be great.

No.

As CJ said, no, not good for fretboards. It's intent is for leather, but leaves a residue that attracts dust/dirt...not good for guitars. Would also cause oxidation of the frets, if any.

Best treatment for fingerboards would include, but limited to, linseed oil and lemon oil. With either, you only want to use a small amount, and when applying, don't let the wood "marinate"...rather, wipe on, wipe off...Daniel-san...and always rook eye.

I asked what was the best treatment for a fingerboard a while ago. Unless you're looking for a color change, the best advice is the path I took, don't do nothing".

If the fingerboard is clear coated maple, then yes, just a rub down with a slightly damp clean cloth is needed when changing strings, etc. But for rosewood, professional suggestions seem to indicate otherwise...or the result would be trouble for the rosewood.

All right this stuff is probably gonna be put in the fire barrel.

I will go to the box stores and look for lemon oil Saturday so i can finish this one.
