Amy I have just the solution for you....go on ebay and buy a "Joyo"...they plug into your jack outlet on your guitar and are powered by two aaa batteries...you then plug headphones into the Joyo and turn up the volume, rock out and no one else can hear it....pretty acceptable  sound too...they are like $11-$15 and pretty rugged.

Thanks Blind Doughboy (okay, that felt weird to type). Those are stunning. I am looking for something for my brother, who plays in an acoustic Irish band, they have sometimes as many as 20 people on stage. Dan Sleep may be familiar with the Irish Breakfast Band in Alexandria? I was thinking he might want something quieter for recovery for a while as he is going to be laid up for a surgery, but the joyo looks like the solution to that. He surely doesn't want to be the sole electric in the band. Now I am not sure what would be good? They have banjos, a mess of violins, guitars, piano . . . Probably needs electric to play in that mix?
