We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area).  This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

I'll be heading back there in the fall and probably spend some time at Big Sur

Can someone post a link to the festival's web site?
Thanks!

Yes, what Muddy said!

Thanks! Didn't know about the face book page.

Smilingdog, you said something about open mic time. Do all the songs have to be played on a home made instrument?

The song writers contest rules require homemade guitars or stringed instruments only.

The open mic is more forgiving however we recommend homemade in order to keep in the spirit of this unique event. Be it that there are plenty of loner CBG's available up on stage and maybe I should announce that loud enough so any inspired might participate. I'll have a 6 string CBG for lone.

SD

Sorry wasn't there to jam work and boy scouts had me stuck in pevely

That's because you're a loving dad and that's what dads do. Plenty more meetings each month.

I may have to take you up on that offer SD! Can I tune it to a full open C? G C E G C E? Was fooling around with some Blind Willie Mctell. Figured out he plays in that tuning. Jotted some words down. A few hours later and... I need a six banger.

How many contenders in the song contest sir we wind up with a horce race

I would think so. There's a lot a really talented people here. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone else's songs.

So how long does a person get with the open mic? A few songs? Minutes? Hours? All day? : ) I might be looking at about 25 minutes worth. Depending on how much time I spend between six songs. Five songs if I'm not allowed to play the one I entered in the contest.

And about the song contest. What does a person need to bring? Besides the guitar. Amp? Will there be plugins available if I wanted to bring a DC brick to power a few pedals? Probably an overdrive and reverb. Guess the same question goes for the open mic. Do I need to bring my own equipment?

Do you have good vocal prosseser looking for an old time Mic sound for a song
