We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area).  This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

We held a builders contest last year, had close to a dozen entry's, three winners, one never collected and the prize went to the next highest vote. Huge prizes including Marshall amp, St, Blues CBG, lap steel, and hand made flat pups from Elmar. Great fun. The energy to organize is taxing but when you're seeing such rewarding response from the public, it's well worth the effort.

I just thought I'd throw it out there. We'll stay the course and nurture this writers contest alone. People are suddenly sending in the applications finally. This should actually be a fun contest. Remember, this fest belongs to everyone who participates. It's where we CBG lovers live out our dream.

Depending on when it happens, I think me and ScottW are interested! Given the drive and some other commitments we /must/ tend do, it would just depend on whether or not we could make it in time.

Done and Done! Let me know you got it.

Yes Cause the Blue rat,

Looks like its turning into the contest

Yes sir, more and more entries, about one each day. Remember, you are both allowed to enter as many songs as you like and or have someone ether assist you in performance or others may perform in your place. Those who collaborate, share the prizes for that placed entry. Good Luck To All!

So is our next gathering at Highway 61 with weekend, the 17th or next weekend, the 24th?

Next meeting is 17th.

I've met with Youth film club director Anne Wolfe, Youth-Librarian and Dare officer Chris Williams who's helping align our 501c3 non profit fundraising by our club house this year. We still are looking for build donations for auction. All monies go directly to youth film club. Next year we' take a vote and pick another cause as always because that's what we're about.

Kudos to those who have already brought your builds in, lets keep the energy going.

Have you guys heard about Playing For Change organization? It's really quite a cool thing. It's a multimedia project where they film and tape street musicians from all around the world playing their own versions of the same songs and they put them together to make international virtual jam sessions on youtube. They sell the albums and all proceeds go to music schools and aid in 2nd and third world countries. Just thought I'd throw in that idea for next year, seeing as I just finished writing a paper about Playing For Change. Regardless to what cause it goes to, I think it is a fantastic idea to have a cbg build auction! It's a perfect way to use music to make a difference :) I'm looking forward to this weekend!
