Being a personal fan of the Steampunk genre and of industrial/mechanical-themed art in general, scrolling through the list of this year's entries is really a treat. Once again I am blown away by the creativity and ingenuity of the builders who congregate on CBN, and I certainly don't envy the hard choices the judges had to make.

First Place ($250.00 prize pack): Tom Thompson
Second Place: ($125.00 prize pack): Michael Naiman
Third Place: ($75.00 prize pack): Graeme
Fourth Place: ($50.00 prize pack) John Bernyk

Note: Keith Alan, the original first place winner, has chosen to withdraw his entry, so we have bumped everyone up one step.

As an added bonus this year (see first comment below for reasons) every non-winning entry will get a $25.00 coupon code usable at the Cigar Box Guitar superstore, http://www.cbgitty.com.

Congratulations to the winners, and a hearty "good job" to all of you! In the next week or so, I will be sending messages to the winners and all other entrants via private message here on CBN to provide info on your prize packs and coupon codes.

Thank you,

Ben/C. B. Gitty

Second the best wishes part.

It's a shame Keith felt the controversy so much, if that's what prompted his actions.

And you're right John, we should take the good bits, there were a lot of those, and move on.

At least now I can put up some video of the screeching demon that is my entry and wait for the comments on that.

Reverend!

I can't wait to hear Ron play the guitar I entered!

   ;-)

seen it commin , / repeating   hence   i  didnt  enter mine .

So, we gonna see a video of this trunk in action?

agreed  ;-)

Silent Jim, Coiin, Top Hat!  I've missed you.   Hope all is well with you and Ms. M.

after  all is said and   done  ,  we  have to remember  , this  site  is newer than the sport  ,  and  Ben  taking over the site,   and  Dan  helping out,   is    even  newer than  that  ,   just like  in  cbg building,, there is trial  and error   ,,  you  find out   what works well  ,,   what  doesn't  , it's a  process  that  only makes things better in the  end  or the future ,  as    we are all still  learning in these  contests  .

sometimes  in an effort to  please    everyone ,  it  can actually  be   detrimental to  some  .   this  is  usually   the reason  for   rules  ,  but  if  rules  don't count   then  people   might as well    start bringing  a   jet   to  a  hot air balloon race ,  and it   gets silly .  i  agree  with  Ben,  some  better structure  is  in order  ,  he   knows  that  .. we   know  it  .  so    i assume   it  can   only get  better from  here.  none  of  us are expert  contest  organizers   ,   so   we  have  to accept   and be  patient  with the   learning  process  .  and  no  matter what, someone  is  not  going to  be    happy.

bottom  line  .. Ben  shelled  out alot  of   $  for this  ,  even went the  extra  mile  to  satisfy  all  involved  ,,  Dan         and  others   put  in time and effort    ,     we  should all  be appreciative  of  that ,  and thank  them , and boost  the probability  of  more contests  happening  .

thankless  jobs suck  .

.friendly advice ,  opinions,  and even  offers  to  help  , can  be   more  effective  and   productive and achieve  the  actual  goal, than  just    bitching  after the fact  .

(i learned  that  last  year  while  bitching  myself  )  ;-)

so  kootoos Ben  and  Dan   etc...,   for    busting your asses  offering  these  contests .

but  get   your shit together  ;-)

lol

i  did not enter  the  contest  for  some  of the reasons  expressed  on this  page ,   ,,  but  it   was still  fun to  watch  , and  i    built and posted   pictures  of my swamp witch  steampunk  ..  to   help  give some    an idea , and example  of   steampunk.   ..  hopefully   offering    ideas   and  maybe even  raising the bar  on some designs  .  so  still   involved , and still  fun.

these contest  are  cool  in alot of ways  .. let's help  them   get  better .

and be  patient till  then  ;-)

Pick the angry cbg mob whisperer lol .

lol phit ,, only  because i was   quilty of it myself.  ;-)

thats really cool . might make one of those for my mom .

The rightful King!   Good to see you, Silent.

Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but I've have had to miss the dance.
