On my round necks I use a regular old acoustic guitar phosphor bronze lite gauge set. On my square necks I use a phosphor bronze 0.016-0.056 set. If you're gonna use a magnetic pickup you can't use the phosphor bronze strings and have to go to a nickel/steel set for regular electric guitar. I don't know much about electric stuff these days so I can't help you there.

Use a set of nickel-steel 10's, meaning that the 1(e) is 0.010" diameter.

Thanks Ron,

In that case the ones that I have ordered are '9's as they start at 0.009".

I just need to cut a hole for the humbucker, fix the resonator and cover (large dog bowl and hub cap) and solder up all the electrics.... music by the weekend?

I was gonna suggest 9's, but I personally find em too floppy and skinny. I have a heavy right hand, too, so I tend to break em. You can use those, but you may find em tinny / banjoey sounding, unless that's the tone you want. CBGs tend to sound that way acoustically anyway. Look forward to pics / vid of your build.
