Dylan: A Handmade Tribute

Cigar Box Nation members interpret the music of Bob Dylan onto handmade instruments.  Originally released in 2013, this tribute was arranged, compiled and produced by C# Merle with help from Silent Jim.

thanks for joining in guys .

I've been practicing "make you feel my love". I am excited about this one!

All quiet on the Western Front !    :)

just a shade under 4 weeks to go jamie. gonna record my track this weekend hopefully - time to dig my 1st cbg build out and dust her off

Sounds like fun Merle, wi that first build.
Guess all the guys busy working away. Just strange to see no chat etc, after initial posts etc :)

this is gonna be fun:)

Old soul! The guitar , not you,Merle. Well................ ;)

Yea Jamie, you're right. Busy workin' away on my first cbg. I'm beginning to feel sorry for the box. I think I'll keep my day job, which is bein' retired. It's especially hard working on it in Baja California (México) where I live now. The closest music store is two hours away in La Páz, and they've never heard of a cbg! It takes two or three weeks to get parts here shipped down from sellers in the States. But all I have left to receive are the bolts and nuts to attach my resonator & cover and some cigar box labels. I might go without the labels if they're much later. I'll know next Tuesday when the "mail" arrives. In the meantime I have been busy, and the big sucker (11-1/2 x 8-1/2 x 3) is movin' right along. I should be done in plenty of time to record and transmit my song. I've been practicing my nasal drone. "aaA...acchH...argH...eaG..." I might sound more like the "Teutonic Titwillow" Lilly Von Schtupp in Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles... I'm a work in progress.

Which brings up a question. This is my first contribution to a CBN tribute, so it's all new to me. In what format do you want me to record my song? I don't have any fancy equipment. No multi-track recorder. I'll probably plug my cbg resonator into my Kustom 30W amp and plug a mic into the line-in jack. I had planned simply to record it on my Samsung TL350 HD camera, which creates an MP4 file. Will that work? It makes a very large file, but I could compress it to transmit it to you. Or instead I could use my iPhone, which creates a .MOV file that is a little smaller file than the MP4. Is that better? Anyway please let me know what works best for you'all. Maybe everyone would be willing to share how they're doing it.... Thanks! ¡Hasta luego! (...until later!)

i think the size limit for email is around 25mb larry, so if it's under this any format is fine.

or you could use an online mp3 converter to shrink it:

look forward to hearing your new reso

Got it. Thanks!

Hi Larry
Nice to have you aboard . Merle gave good advice re sending etc.
Well done you, building your first guitar to use on Bob album. Not a builder myself, just a player. I can wire a plug, end of story! Lol
Cheers ma man:)
