My daughter's first grade teacher invited me in this afternoon to play the guitars I've made and a couple that my daughter has helped put together.

I suggested that I have a couple acoustics, but the kids might like it better if I brought an amplifier with me.  Heh, heh. The teacher agreed. . .

Let's see how it goes.  Cold Cereal Blues is getting it's Bad Finger CBG debut on the lawn at the elementary school today.

The kids having a great time was more than enough for it to be worthwhile.  The note from the teacher sent it over the top for me.  What a great time and I'm happy it was appreciated by all.

I got my first round of applause and performed a couple verses of Cold Cereal Blues.  Fun, fun, fun.

Thanks Uncle John.

Today was also camp out day so I went in early to set up our big tent for the class.

I got this nice note from the teacher:

Thank you very, very much for everything you did today. The kids LOVED the tent and sharing your guitars was a special added bonus for us all. You may have just lit a flame under a budding musician. You have touched their lives and for that I am extremely grateful.

Thank you for helping to make one of our last days together as a class memorable.

This is cool as a two headed cat.  Good on you, Mr. ED.

Dulci-jos. Easier to build. Ask the class to each bring in their own clean tin can

The teachers all freaked out when I let the guitars get passed around at the end.  I could have cared less if they came back as a combination of matchsticks and toothpicks.  I'm still singing a happy tune in my head.

The music teacher couldn't make it due to a class scheduled at the same time, but she wants to do dulcimer music with her 5th graders next year.   So I guess I'm going to have to learn how to build a dulcimer or dozen.  I bet we could make a quick build demo by having pre-strung necks and boxes and just compare the sound of the stick alone then screwed down to the box.

Way to go, Bad! Keepin' it real in school...did the same thing with 5th grade class a few years ago. It is truly a lot of fun. Your daughter just made a fantastic memory.

Just got back.  That was freakin' awesome.  We ended the session with a 10 minute kid-made blues song.  I played a riff then picked a kid to stand up and give it a line.  Another riff and another line.  That was great and everyone had a bunch of fun.

Yer right, that would not play well at home. Hmmm. A custom Skewl of Rawk for teach would be better.

Does she look anything like this (scroll about halfway down, just below Jerry Seinfeld)?:
