How do I get that 1960-70 rock amp sound?

Hi
I'm looking for tips to sort out my live sound
and get a great rocking sound from my amp and CBG

Has anyone got any tips?

I think valves is the only way to go
but what's the best amp pedal combo for some
great rocking sounds?

Or do I just need to add an overdrive?

As I need a fatter sound.
(AC/DC, 70's rock kinda thing with some 60's
Cleaner songs too)

All help or fun is appreciated

Keep rocking

Ps using a 4 string an P bass pickup
Plus a 3 string and single double hotrail
Pup
Six string goldfoil (which works ok for sound)

Playing Cambridge hence would like help to sort
Before then if anyone fancies giving me some tips?

Thanks Jason..I got a marshall in the end off ebay cheap...its not vintage but did the job for my gig at cambridge

me 2 I like valves best ...my marshall has just one in it...better than none
