A Band Walks Into a Bar... Shane Speal's Snake Oil Band is going on tour!

A Band Walks Into a Bar...

I've been tethered to my computer for the last week as I work toward a Fall/Winter tour of Shane Speal's Snake Oil Band.  We're planning on taking the whole theatrical show to clubs, performing arts centers and universities in the Mid Atlantic States.  Wanna get in on this?  I have some ideas...

What if we made this the Traveling Cigar Box Guitar Festival?:
What if I invited other cigar box guitar builders to showcase and sell their instruments at my concerts?  If we play your town, you could be the 'guest seller.'  In doing so, you could help us get the word out when we come to town plus having you as part of the show would create an extra bit of circus to the show.  Remember, this is 4th quarter, 2014... Holiday Season.

Fan Support: Bring the Tour to Your Town
I am quickly learning that no matter how much national press you may attract, club owners want to know how many shows you've done in their area.  Since this is the Snake Oil Band's first full tour, we need to get the support of our fans to convince the clubs.

The band is touring in the Mid Atlantic States (NY, NJ, DE, MD, PA, WV, VA) and I've been actively hitting as many medium-to-large size venues.  If you are in the touring area and want to help, we have a link with all our booking info that you can pass along to any club:  http://shanespeal.com/presskit ; Forward it to a club. Post it on their Facebook.  Spread the word and maybe we'll be able to hit your town.

Want your band to open for us?
Some clubs are requiring local support.  If you have a solid band with a local following, we could recommend you as an opening act.

T-Shirt Designs
We currently have one Snake Oil Band t-shirt for sale, but we'd like to eventually expand the line.  When we performed with Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band, we noticed that all his shirts were designed by fans.  I like this idea.  Besides, you guys were our first fans.  You know us better than anyone else.

Tapers/Filmers
We're encouraging our fans to capture our shows on audio or video.

Wanna get involved?  Check out "Snake Oil Fans.

I just created a Snake Oil Fan forum on Facebook so we can chat about all this.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/snakeoilfans/   (The regular Facebook page sucks because your comments are hidden.)  Use this page to reply about any of these ideas.  Got videos of our shows?  Post Youtube links.  You get the idea.  It's your page.  Use it to connect with us.

Well, there we go.  Let's Stay Primal together.

ps.  Thanks to all who responded to the "Filmmakers" question last week.  I still have to email a couple people yet.  Needless to say, we have big ideas...
