Cellodrone

My latest photo is of a prototype of a drone instrument I have made. It has worked really nicely. It has a scale length of a metre, can be bowed, plucked or struck and has some nifty non-intentional features. I can press down on the soundboard and bend the note down or I can use the bone nut to lever the string into more tension and bend the note up. The instrument will end up with 3 strings but I think this should still work. I have also mounted springs in the sound chamber in order to create…See More

"Hey Howlin' Dick. The piezo will give you a beautiful sound. I think it may be even sweeter than a wound pick-up. It makes your instrument distinct and pure!"

First Build

This is my first build. Made it with my Dad. Plays like an angel and growls through my 15watt Fender. I've been playing it through an old Jen Dynamic Sustainer pedal and it screams Garage. It can hold its own without the pedal though. These guitars are the best thing I've come across. My two other guitars look on in envy.

Sorry, I'm a little behind in welcomes...

Welcome aboard, Jerome! You will find lots of helpful folks and information here on all things CBG (CBU, CBB, etc.) Feel free to poke around, ask questions, and post your stuff (photos, recordings, videos, etc.).

Up in the Free Resources menu at the top, you will see a number of plans for building and playing cigar box guitars/ukuleles/banjos/dulcimers/violins. I encourage you to download any of the plans, take a look at them, and ask questions from there. Also our site is VERY searchable. I bet you your questions have already been asked, so take a few moments and look around.

Join our Chat sometime (see the bar at the bottom of your browser page). Keep in mind that tho the chat window says there are X number of people online, not all may have the chat window up.

Most of all, have fun!

-Wes
