How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?: online

How many instruments have you built so far?: none, but my son built me a 3 string CBG

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).: Very easy to learn to play. I've never learnt the guitar because all those notes, chords, strings etc put me off. Rock guitarists got their chicks for free but at my, then, age I got them anyway just by going out.
A couple of years ago I saw Brooks Williams play a CBG at my local folk and blues club and though "That's one Christmas present sorted" thinking of one of my sons, Tom, for whom I'd bought a Sun by Fender with a Tanglewood amp ewhen he was fifteen. Since then he's bought himself a bass and his wife got him an Epiphone Les Paul. So xmas before last Tom got his Chickenbone John 3-string CBG. After mucking about with it for a while he said "Dad, you could play this". His mother has always said that I'm tone-deaf, btw.
He built one for his 8 year-old daughter, then built one for me. How cool is that? I'm into my second week of ever playing a guitar and I'm playing tunes. Even cooler.

Your point about strengthening the corners...I had way too much resonance from the plate, especially B 4th fret, which I've managed to dampen with part of a beer mat jammed in under one of the corners. I guess new plates are flatter but they miss the character. Corner brackets…

Hi, I'm new here

I'm using riffstation (paid one and Beta) which I find great to see chords and play along with. "Country Honk" without the fiddle part is my fav challeng at the mo but I can pick from Utube with the Beta version and my own, vast, music collection with the paid one.

This is not an ad, btw, I'm just a newbie passing along something I find very useful and fun.

If anyone can help me I'd be grateful to be pointed to a good 3-string tab site. I've tried using the 6 to 3 string conversion…
