Hi Guys.. Hollowbelly is fine about posting stuff..as long as you miss out the bit where he says something about his nephew (during the intro to "You Know Nothing") I didn't catch it myself as I was desperately trying to wrestle with the PA at the time to stop it feeding back, but I'm sure you'll all co-operate on this point!

Oh yes, loved that guitar...but now I'm back home I realised that I hardly managed to play any others...and I wanted to have a proper look as so much other stuff. I had so much to do on the day...I could have happily sat on that stool all day and let people hand me guitar after guitar to play...I just regret that I couldn't spend as much time as I would have liked speaking to people and trying out their wonderful creations.

I reckon the Brit CGB Nation will have to take a stall at a few guitar exhibitions and show the rest of the UK guitar players what it's all about. I've had a stall in the past at a show and it was pretty good...ooh err...am I talking myself into another load of work? It would be pretty cool tho, imagine if we all joined forces again and had a mass invasion of the buttoned-down world of an ordinary guitar show!!!

Ta. Yes John, you have final say on any vids of you of course and If you don't like any I'll pull them off again. They're mostly short clips. Got one of you and Ben's bog seat - that has to go on :)

HI. I'm OK about my stuff being posted..but I reserve the right to ask you take it off if I think my performance was lousy!! (I didn't feel I gave a particularly good account of myself behind the mic. on the day).

The jerry can was the work of BluesBeaten Redshaw, and Pete Jackson did Motherless Children - I don't think he's on the site but I'll ask him about it.

I've asked Hollowbelly to let us know about posting any vids of his performance, so hopefully we can keep on the right side of doing the best thing for everybody and respecting their views about posting vids of live performances.

First I want to say a huge thanks to Chickenbone John for organising this. It has been my dream to get a UK event for a long time but don't have the venue or experience to organise it myself but we finally got one and what a brilliant day it was. John and his helpers were excellent hosts. I'm still buzzing from it. I was awake again at 5.30 this morning with it all goinf around in my head. Another event - yes yes yes but can we wait a couple of weeks :)

I also want to thank Ju Ju for donating the fabulous 3 string pup that I won in the raffle. I've got a few idea as to what to do with it but won't rush into it, I want to make the most of it. The quality and finish of it is a credit to the guy.

I have some photos and some vid clips. I agree with Pete's comment and was going to ask what the etiquette is about putting someone else's material on Youtube for example. I'm not sure it's OK just to do it without asking the performer first. Chickenbone I have some clips of you are you OK for me to Youtube it and link to here? I don't remember the young man's name with the Jerrycan or the guy who did Motherless Child but if you can tell me I'll try contact them first before posting.

A thanks also to you guys across the pond for the support and inspiration that led us to this whacky activity. Also a special mention for Fergus, a young man who had the guts to get up and play on his CBG bass - having only played it for about a week! Thanks too to all the others who entertained us and to Ben (Randy Rooster) for making us laugh. You're a natural comic Ben. Thanks also goes to Mark C. for being a great CBG buddy for the last couple of years and helping keep my fire alight. Best wishes all and thanks for being part of it, I can't wait for the next one.

I can't seak for Hollowbelly, so i just hope permission has been asked to record and distribute CD's etc. Not sure if he is a pro musician or not ,but I was at an event recently where the drummer in a proffesional blues band got quite upset that the event organiser was recording without asking permission!! Not wanting to put a damper on, and I know lot's of unofficial vids of gigs are out there, but it's not easy to un-distribute stuff if the artist objects ,lol
Pete.

What a fantastic night of raw music. If you missed it you missed a real treat. Hope to be around for the whole day next year and not just the concert. Thanks to all concerned.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who turned up to support the very first UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival...builders, players, audience, venue staff and helpers.

I reckon we could chalk that one down as success, I know it wasn't perfect, but as our first shot at this sort of thing I'm hugely relieved that the whole event went off as well as it did.

I know many of you travelled the length of the nation to get here, and all credit to you people..it's a very humbling experience to see the commitment you all have made to doing your bit to make the event happen.

Thanks also to those guys who came down the night before to make a real weekend of it...as soon as I stepped out of the car to meet you all I knew it was going to be good night out!

I know everyone was asking what had happened to Olivier (Tinqui8)...but when I got home and was able to check my email, he'd sent an SOS to say he'd been stranded at Calais. What can I say?...he'd already travelled right across France and was stuck on the other side of the channel...I've got to say I was absolutely gutted to hear of his dilemma, and I'm sure everyone here will extend their kind wishes and hope he gets over this rotten set-back...top marks for effort and commitment..man, we really did want to see him.

What more can I say..I'm still woozy headed about the whole thing...weeks and months of preparation, anticipation and worrying...but it was more than worth it.

So what's the verdict good people...is it going to happen again? Do feel free to throw some ideas around for future events...I've got a few ideas of my own of how we might develop it, so let's start some discussions going, once you've all recovered!!
