That's why I posted the chord tabs. You'll have to do two things:

1) Find a 3-string tuning that gives you flexibility for major and minor chords
2) Map out the 6-string chords to the 3-string tuning.

Try A-D-F# tuning, or D-G-B tuning, for example. If you look at the DADGBD tuning on the tabs, you'll see that the middle three strings are DGB. Look at the chord tabs,mand you'll see that most of the chords are 2 notes with a drone on the D, G, and B strings. If you use ADF#, which are the middle 5, 4 and 3 strings in DADGBD, that's just detuning the G down a half step to F#. You'll need to map the notes shown in the tabs to that tuning.

I had typed a long reply showing how to map a 3-string fretboard in A-D-F# tuning, then showing how to do the same for a 6-string fretboard in DADGBD tuning, then mapping a single chord from "Midnight Rider" in the DADGBD 6-string tab tuning to the A-D-F# 3-string tuning, along with some music theory...but the server timed out on me, and I didn't save it...grrrrrr.

What I will do is repeat this process in Word, then post it as a discussion so everyone can see it. I don't know how much music theory you have, so I will assume for everyone's benefit that they have none.
