I’m waiting on parts to be able to start my 1st build. I have the box I’m going to use, it’s a Puros Indios box. The final product will be smooth shellac on the box. I was searching on google and found this Puros Indios label so I printed it and laid it on my box to see what it would look like. Has anyone done that, shellacked a paper pic on a box? Or is it just better to leave the box with the stock printing?

2 things come to mind, 1st is; It's your box, make it to your specs and enjoyment, no rules, paint it, decal, paper shellac, glue toy army men on there, seriously though, you got to make it your own to be happy with it, personally, the box looks boring, so I'd add something, whether it was a paper label of the same manufacture or a hot babe lol.

2nd; before I decide on what decorative embellishment I would want to use, I'd decide on a few other things first, like what scale is it going to be and how long a neck(frets), so I could approximate where my bridge or any pickups end up, wouldn't make sense to go through all the trouble to add a label only to find out you're cutting into it to add one of those things and most of your label ends up not being seen.

My .02 cents, I wanted to do this in a future build, but...how about paint it hot rod flat black with flames like the hood of an old 51 ford. or do the hodge podge method of transferring a picture of your choice onto the top, or get creative and steam punk it, or old gears, or paint it a green scaly looking with a claw slash across it dripping blood lol. Again, use your imagination, make it functional, and best of all, have fun making it as well as playing it. To be honest, I get more enjoyment out of making them, haven't made one yet I got attached to...maybe soon.

also a good idea, using a test subject.

Keep in mind if you are using Orange Shellac it my change the colour of the label. Blonde Shellac is better but normally more costly to buy.
