Comment by BrianQ. on August 2, 2021 at 5:06am: Do what Bob said, fill top with glue, but glue a strip of wood on the underside. I’d use a tongue depressor or a popsicle stick to keep things on the thin side, so you won’t loose too much vibration across the top? Easy fix, don’t trip! Good luck :)

Comment by Bob "Ambrose" Negus on August 2, 2021 at 12:52am: An old trick used to be to fill the split with sawdust and clear glue, then maybe then add a finish of light wood stain on top. Just a thought.
