20 inch scale build question?

I would like to build a 20 scale cbg for my next build, just wondering about, which strings to use, how to tune, etc. just getting started in building this will be my 3rd.  Trying to teach myself to play, with the help of this group.  I travel so I though a small cbg would be easier to carry and still function as a good way to learn.  thanx bill

You have a lot of good choices, but you might consider the following approach.

1. Find you current favorite build.

2. Measure the strings on this one, then use and online string tension calculator to determine the tension of each string.

3. Next, use the string tension calculator to find which diameter strings (at a scale of 20") have approximately the same tension as those on the guitar you like.

This approach will give you strings that feel familiar when you plan and help you avoid stressing.
