So I pictured this CBG with some hardware that I've got that is "antique brass". It is clearly brass but with a dark brown hue that I guess is the 'antique' part. The thing is that I can't find tuners, that are affordable, in a similar finish. Of course the first thing that comes to mind is somehow refinishing a set of tuners in that dark brown colour. Anybody have experience doing this? I could scratch them up a bit and paint them but I don't know if that would stick.

Check out the effect Pick gets by sanding black tuners...

I've only done it once, but had success with these (originally chrome) tuners and they are holding up well after a year and a half or so.  Just scuffed them up real good and hit them with a few coats of enamel spray paint.  I did have to scrape the paint off the shafts to get them to fit the bushings when I put it together.

That's a really cool rust effect.
