there are quite a few you tubes post on different cbg's.

some sound nice and some not so nice.

when you read some comments hey what strings are you using ,what tune .

from what I can gather most cbg's are tuned GDg and yet give different sound.

now why don't these cbg's players come clean and say it is the amplifier or other gizmo's that create the sounds that were are hearing.

I've got three cbg's and none sound like these on you tubes.

so what is the secret?

is the pick up?

is the strings?

or is the amps etc.

Here I'm playing straight into the amp, clean setting, no gizmos, just a quality pickup. Not a great recording, just use the mic on the ipad but you get the idea, and no singing on this one.

Reminded of a story i heard or read somewhere about BB King - he'd done a show and was back in his dressing room with a visiting fan, the guy looks over at "Lucille"  propped up in the corner of the dressing room and says " hey that guitar sounds fantastic, amazing guitar" to which BBK  replies "she don't sound too good right now does she" .... ;-

It's the player that makes the sound, the equipment is how he gets there.

LOL sure, that's what you say now.

If everybody was always in agreement there would be no discussions, no advancements, and things would get boring in a hurry.

thanks anonymous pick.

cheers  ;-)

I too have a Swamp Witch Guitar. It's got a really good sound to it. Completely different from any other guitar I have. And it also sounds differently threw the pedals as well. Much closer to a single coil than a piezo.

For a really great sound reference listen to as many of the un amped vids on this site as you can.

cheers   rat  ,   glad  you are  enjoying  it  ;-)

On an electric guitar the source of the sound is the pickup, other things will have some effect, usually because they determine how the strings vibrate in relation to the pickup, but by far the main thing, not the only thing but the main thing, we're talking about sound here, is the pickup, did I say pickup?
Other things are important, playability, aesthetics, intonation, etc but if you're talking about the sound of the instrument, not the amp or anything else, it has to be the pickup because it's the pickup that produces the signal that then goes on to be amplified.
Mojo is in the eye of the palm. >:-E
