sorry TWEAKING!!

Twinking, v. 1) The act of eating Twinkies; 2) alternately closing both eyelids in rapid succession in consternation, when a string suddenly breaks; 3) a feeling of desolation, often called "buyer's remorse," after purchasing a CBG from an unknown builder at a local craft fair; 4) unsubtle attempt at joking humor by a fellow traveler ;-)

GREAT definitions!

Mine are the Super Duperest  best!best! best! best!

I went to a cbg event last week and played examples from eight or nine different builders..
I was absolutely stunned by the vast differences between what I considered the nicest and what I considered the nastiest. Yet the purveyor(s) of the nastiest were quite proud of their wares, and did not even necessarily perceive these differences..

Play as many as you can and form your own opinion is all I can say. Good luck :)

Yup

Would you expound, please, on what differences there were between ones that were nice and ones that were nasty? And why you think the builders of the nasty ones were unconscious of their CBG's nastiness? I imagine there's an element of pride in building a guitar even if it's not good . . . kind of fascinating!

ok so here is a list of people I have recieved great cbgs from over the years. I love ANYTHING Wichita Sam builds. I also am really impressed with Diane from Chicago. I have 2 treasured guitars from the hands of Kirk Withrow. I have a super cool strum stick from Tiny guitars that was almost too reasonable priced to be believed, less than 50 bucks. I have a few others that I picked up that are also pretty wonderful but I do not know if the builders are still activly building or selling. If the joker is still making them get oneI have a diddly bow from him that truly screams. I also have a great bow from Willard j his are true pieces of art as well as great playing bow. I rcieved a cool little retro uke from Delviro here back in 2011 that plays sweet and looks so cool that I hang it on the wall as art when I am not playing it. And last but not least Wes Carl built a great 3 string he sent me a few years ago that makes magic when ever I plug it in. Anyway, all I can say is that if you get the chance play them first so you know what you are getting. I think most of the builders up here on the nation are easy enough to communicate what you want to  and they are more than capable enough to meet anyones needs. Finally, I love and play all my cbgs in my shows but I have to admit that my favorites are my own, nothing beats the feeling of playing a simple intrument that you build yourself. Thats my long winded 2 cents....matt

Thanks Matt

Nice!

I am sorry but I forgot to mention a great guitar I got from Dan Sleep. I posted a video of me playing it and it has to be heard to be believed. You can not go wrong with one of his. If I am missing anyone I will put in a short review as I get time....matt

how do you answer that question correctly..how many lick o get to the center of a tottsie pop?
