Thanks RTZ. Yeah I've seen that type of drum head. Not sure if that would work with this type of plastic? It's all experimental at this point. Ha! PVC sound ring. I'm working on one right now with a piece of PVC drain pipe that I found on the roadside! About 10" diameter. It should work. I've got an old Silvertone banjo with a bakelite pot and it sounds pretty good! How different could it be?

Great old fiddle tune, that works great Jim. Thinking of doing a Irish tenor like this.

Some drum heads are oil filled double layered don't know if you could heat two layers of plastic if you can you could do a much bigger sound chamber. What's Next PVC Sound Ring.

Thanks J Robinson That should work. I like experimenting with these things. Specially with free stuff like plastic bottles. There's a guy on Banjo Hangout who wraps 4 -5 layers of packing tape around a box. It works!!

I got to try that plastic bottle thing.

I thought about Duck canvas soaked in glue water solution stretched over bowl/box then let it dry.
