"Tree Frog Blues" by Uncle Gus. Recorded live in one take on 7/16/2012 on my cookie tin guitar "Winterbone."

TREE FROG BLUES
===============
Now it's the middle of July
Steam is rising through the trees
Clings to everything it touches
Hangs on your skin in beads
There's a flash and a rumble
Storm's coming I do believe

O can you hear the tree frogs singing
Hear the crickets doing their thing
Cicadas rising and falling
See the moon watching over everything
June bugs bumbling under the porch light
And you can smell the coming rain

Thanks much Unca John & Klaau.

Yeah, it's hard to perch a hat on your bean with those headphones on. Cooler, though. "Cooler" as in temperature, that is.

Great playing, great singing, great tone, great rhythm, great song.......did I miss anything out? No, it's all GREAT!

Holey moley good.   Super playing and just great tone.   Show us the lyrics.   They sound good.  Song is a bit like Little Red Rooster - in good ways, sound, feel and cool critters.   Well different enough from any thing else to make it a great OH-riginal.   Dang, I think you play better without your hat.

RTZ: that would be an interesting discussion. Sometimes I'm a bit sheepish about my own gear because I've always kind of been from the "ah, chewing-gum-it together and see what kinda sound it makes" school of recording, but in a way it's like I've spent my whole life getting ready for the CBG scene.

What's up Gus, nice song man. Makes me thing someone should do a forum (What's in your studio). Recording tech, equipment, mic, preamps, software, interfaces just a thought. Take care.

Wow, thanks, everybody!

W.M.: The guitar has a piezo wired directly to the jack, and the amp is this little 30-watt solid-state Fender I've had forever. The reverb on the vocals and guitar was added in the mix, though. The Fender's doesn't get quite that cavernous...

That's the delta sound, scenes of dirty swamps come to my brain :)
