The Silver Tongued Devil - Kris Kristofferson song

"The Silver Tongued Devil And I" by Kris Kristofferson

Another Kris song for all you CBN silver tongued devils.

I [C] took myself down, to the Tally Ho Tavern
To [F] buy me a bottle of [C] beer
And I [[F] sat me down by a [C] tender young maiden
Whose [D] eyes were as dark as her [G] hair

And [C] as I was searching from bottle to bottle
For [F] somethin' unfoolish to [C] say
That [F] silver tongued devil just [C]slipped from the shadows
And [G] smilingly stole her a- [C]way

I said [F] hey, don't you know, he's the [C] devil
[F] He's ev'rything that I [C] ain't
[F] Hidin' intentions of [C] evil
[D] Under the smile of a [G] saint

All he's [F] good for is gettin' in [C] trouble
And [F] shiftin' his share of the [C] blame
And [F] some people swear he's my [C]double
And [D] some even say we're the [G] same

But the [F] silver-tongued devil's got [C] nothin' to lose
And [F] I'll only live till I [C] die
We [F] take our own chances, and [C] pay our own dues
The [G] silver tongued devil and [C] I.

Thanks for the encouraging  words.   Not you, Pick.  You made me hungry for pasta and meat balls.

Interesting to me that Kris's songs can be hard to sing.   I think of him as more of an 'interesting and pleasing' singer than a 'pretty singer.   My not so big vocal range strains to do this song and his great "Why Me Lord."
