Like Uncle John says " if at first you don't succeed  ~ drink more beer"

...never truer words spoken...you are wise indeed.

Jason,  if  at first you don't succeed  ~ drink more beer.   The straighter sides of this work well.

Jason,

   Tried again with another blue Bud Light Platinum bottle.  Failed again.  Had a Moose Drool bottle in the shop and used it.  Worked just like on your vid.   Big stupid smile here :).   Had fun with this.  Will try again when the right bottle is in hand.  Thanks!

Great method Jason! those beer bottles are very lightweight glass and ideal for cutting, would it work on thicker glass like wine bottles...?

Go Budrows! (-;

As for the platinum bottles, come on, ya got to admit they are soooo cool looking for slides!

Yeah Uncle John...the important part is the straight score line all the way 'round and having a deep enough pot for the boiling water. If those are the first two that you did, don't worry, you will be a pro in no time...I guarantee.

But next time, get a different beer...I mean come on, Bud Light Platinum...what kind of gimmick is that?

Though I must say, I have never turned down a beer......

Coolest thing ,, been saving some really good <empty> wine bottles to make slides out of     Tks Man   this will b a winner !!!

I need to get a glass cutter. I've been using a Dremel, and it's a pain in the ass, so I've only made two. This is ridiculously simple.

Folks, this is a cool idea and SHOULD work.  Thanks to Jason.  I honestly did fail and the photo and comments below are making fun of myself ONLY.  I will try it again some time.   I think I scored the bottle poorly and should have had a little deeper vessels for ice water and boiling water.   On the good side, I did not mess up the kitchen, did not get in trouble ` and enjoyed the beers.
