Oh yeah, another cool fact about this tune. In the movie Cold Mountain a slowed down version of this was played by Ruby's (Renee Zellwiger's) father when he was trying to get back in her good graces. He changed it to Ruby With the Eyes That Sparkle

Good job pick. I'd heard various stories about this tune over the years and you were able to find the article that pretty much hit on them all and then some! It's really good to have a friend who does the homework for me I shoulda done!

yup  , facts is fun Jim  ..  yer welcome , glad  ya liked  it  . and thanx for intriguing me   enough  to look it up . i lucked out finding that,  figuring it  had a slave feel to  it,  so i added the word  "slave"  in the title   search  and got that  ;-)

Cool! Thanks pick! That link gives the kind of information I love! A tune's history, or in this case, all the alternate facts associated with it, add interest to what is a pretty simple tune. The Madison, Monroe, Jefferson story at the end is one I never heard before.

I must concur with Wes.   Pretty instrument and nice sound and playing.  

But you are obviously trying to pull the wool over our heads with that title.  We are not falling for it.
