I posted this as a reply on yesterday's sound demo video, but being a new day, I figure it is worthy of posting on its own.
The song is still a work in progress, but I like it.
Just a little down home country farm sorta instrumental. Feeding the yard birds.
Mojobone Works Slide. I'm surprised I can pick anything with my index finger. I busted the nail clean off cutting firewood this weekend.

Thanks Uncle John. I have a split personality. I can either come up with lyrics or a riff/melody. I can rarely pair them together.
Great lyrics below, but it will take me some effort (or if I wait until later some bourbon) to hear them together.
Soundin' low down good. LOL at your comment. Man, your playing is good. Like that groove. It's a 5 string thing.
Lyrics? Everything I write starts off, "Well, I woke up this mornin'." Hunnh. I was kidding, but it seems to work here.
Scratch Feed by Eric and Unc.
Well, I woke up this mornin', pulled on my wooden leg.
Got no woman to cook me breakfast cause' I ain't a man to beg.
I used to be a workin' man down at the lumber yard.
Till' I lost this leg in an accident and life got mighty hard.
Scratch feed. Scratch feed. Scratch feed.
I ain't got much a' what I want, but I got all I need.
I got a home and five acres but, I ain't got no mule.
It's a dog, 3 hogs and the chickens and this one legged fool.
Went out to find some breakfast and feed the critters too.
Scattered round some scratch feed and little kibble too.
Scratch feed. Scratch feed. Scratch feed.
I ain't got much a' what I want, but I got all I need.
They got me on disability. They got me on the dole.
I ain't got a lot to live for. I dug my own hole.
Gathered me up some peppers and five fresh brown eggs.
Got no woman to cook me breakfast cause' I ain't a man to beg.
Scratch feed. Scratch feed. Scratch feed.
I ain't got much or what I want, but I got all I need.
Scratch feed. Scratch feed. Scratch feed.
Scratch feed. Scratch feed. Scratch feed.
Nice one pick. :) Give Uncle John a little time and he'll have song for you. He's already had experience putting things in the dirt.
I planted sunflowers in the rain. Wait 24 hours and Oily will have a song using that line.
I grew up on a country farm with a number of different yard birds. Rhode Island Reds (brown eggs), Guinea Fowl (intruder alarm), Bantam hens (green eggs) and Bantam roosters (attack dogs). I'd throw them some scratch feed, but mostly they ate bugs and grubs. The imagery fits the instrumental, I think.
i planted 2 bags of bird seed ......... no birds grew :-/
