Great Video, Jef! I've been practicing my scales for acouple of days now as you suggested in my other post and my fingers are finally starting to learn their way around the fret board. Keep it up. Dan

Jef, those chords are of some us to me, thanks. Kind of gives some variation from the barre chords. Th IV chord is a finger stretcher, but doable.

I enjoyed your practicing, Jef! I use to apologize for not playing - I'd better apologize for not practicing.. Thanks bro for encouraging ;-)

Thanks.   Its just a motivator, your tuning is irrelevant...

unk, i really didnt work on it at all, cept to use a flatpick, which i never do except for the very occasional cover band gig.  I usually have bare hand or a thumbick but it give me more a clawhammer and fingerpickin style and i wanted to slow it up so people could get it is all..

otherwise its just runnin scales, no real thought to any of it, its how i get my students to play scales, to work the relevant chords and arpeggios in, to improvise, work up repeatable riffs, just have fun with it and get to feel its context

those are sposed to be open strings mate yep.   My point is this, learn these 3 shapes, practice a few modes, see how the modes affect the 3 shapes.   In the vid going to dorian mode pushes the i chord minor.   going phrygian pushes the i and iv both to minor and the v to diminished.   Its the same chord, but squeezed into the context of the scale.   Im trying to illustrate that you dont need a million chord shapes in your head, you need a handful and some practice.

Wow, I did not expect that to be so entertaining.   Your practice is paying off, sounding great.  Cool video.  You worked hard in it.

Okay, I don't play much I V I tuning, but I am messing with some (G D G).  Your chords below;  does it mean the string is open (unfretted) when the chart shows the fingering not on the fret board?

   Thanks!

these are the 3 chords i reference in this video

and these are the 2 scales..

note that this 2nd scale is derived from the first, nothing new, just a few notes filtered out..
