Comment by Hal Robertson on April 6, 2016 at 12:35pm: Good eye! 1/2" ply for the sides, 1/4" ply for the back and 1/8" luan for the top. 4x8 sheets available local, so I cut 'em up! Also use it for the tops on my cajons. Pretty happy with the end result whether it's "correct" or not. One day, I'll buy a surface planer and experiment with other woods. Thinking cedar might be next...

I love it!!!!
