Ribbon mic test - Sounds like i'm in your room?

Ribbon mic and valve pre-amp, tascam dp008

They are supposed to respond like our ears do to the same frequencies.

A very white....Rockhill resonator

With added reverb and double tracked

what kind of ribbon mic are you using and where was it placed ? nice earthy

sound and playing by the way. i'm using a Cascade FatHead ribbon that i really

like. it's a true figure-8 pattern. some ribbons don't pickup sound equaly from the

front and back of the mic.the Cascade doesn't really have a front and back.

a cool tip i learned was say you're doing a guitar track with a ribbon placed

directly  at the guitar. you get a nice close direct sound, but you wanted

more room ambience and air. instead of moving the mic back further just

turn the mic so that the front and back point left and right instead of directly

at the guitar. now you get more room sound and air and still keep some of

the clean.

Bug man, that sounds fantastic to me.   I am transported to the Delta, circa 1930 on a cool October early Saturday evening.   House party.  All the furniture moved out for dancing.   A work hardened man the color of weak coffee picks up a ratty Stella.   He doesn't look like a player.   Beat up hands and fingers.   Worn out work clothes.  Slouch hat.   He sips from a tin cup.   Strums, stops to tune, then he plays.

Wholey Shite.  He's the blues man.     Can't tell by looking.

It sounds just like a little bugg with a little guitar is playing through the tiny speakers of my tablet!!!!!!!!!
