How To Build a Diddley Bow with Minimal Tools | Beginner Friendly Tutorial | DIY CBG

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I've posted several instrument building tutorials in the past. I've occasionally gotten the question of whether it can be done with basic tools. That's what today's video covers. I build a cigar box diddley bow with just a few tools (saw, file, drill, utility knife, etc) and a couple of readily available parts.

Thanks Kale! I actually sent a kit to a Slinger in Minnesota and she said the kit went together easily. I have since modified the internal support bar for much easier installation. I’m thinking ahead to an ambitious build with two groups of up to 20 ladies. I’ve generated 15 gallons of sawdust so far working on the necks in preparation for builds in 2024 (sliced up some 2x4s)…

Thanks Doug. I like your 3D printed parts method even better. It makes it really easy for a newbie.

Quick, easy, and you’re ready to slide off into the sunset! Nicely done Kale.

What's funny about that comment is I actually wanted to use those exact tools (shinto rasp and sanding block) but I figured not everybody has those, so I went with the 2 files. LOL.

Another kool tutorial video!! I always use hand tools on my builds, large power tools take the fun out of it for me, I can really get in the zone with a Shinto rasp & a sanding block! Cheers :)
