Driftin'..played on the 3 string guitar

After playing John Lee Hooker's "Driftin'" in open G, I was asked if I'd worked this out on the 3 string..so here it is...I've really not worked much on it , but just tried to get the basic flavour of the piece

Love it John. One day maybe I'll play this too.

Quite right... I had a fantastic moment yesterday as I was chiseling away at the top layer of a diddley bow headstock for the youth club and the bottom sheared away instead! I still managed to pull off a working diddley bow.

Making mistakes and dealing with it creatively is all part of the process.  It turned out better looking, stronger  and gave me a nice slot to seat the nut into.  This sort of thing is a consequence of making things by eye and by hand rather than to a drawing or exact dimensions. I'm sure in the long run it would probably be quicker and easier to work to precise measurements and do things the same way each time...but on pretty much every build, I end up making some sort of correction, alteration or adjustment to get things to fit or to work better. I still make mistakes, I've just got better at dealing with them.

Nice to hear that a pro occasionally cuts his headstocks too thin too. :)

That is wonderful that you can do that on 3 strings.

Getting the flavor and feel of it rather than copying.   Well said,  Thanks!  I don't know that I can play this song, but I am at least off to a start.
