Can you please post an audio visual sample. I tend to believe they are too flat. Standard frets have a peak to them that cuts the string accurately. Getting the intonation spot on using this method seems rather tricky. Not a big fan of gluing metal to wood either. Although, I appreciate your efforts to build that better mouse trap. the   bobby pins  i got seem   longer and   maybe a bit  wider than   i remember the older ones being .

i'm sure the old style would work too.
