Beamer, I agree completely.   And I am just starting to accept that for myself.   I used to get frustrated by the knocks and buzzes.   I  have a current fave CD by the Kansas City musician and cbg man, Jason Vivone.   Lots of knocks and buzzes on a couple of songs.  They almost sound like a sort of percussion.  Sounds SOO good.

I think there is a lesson here for all us wanna be slide players.

Thanks Maddog and Uncle John. UJ; When I listen to Ry Cooder he always plays a little sloppy "knocks and buzzes" and it always sounds more soulful than when you try and play clean and tidy as it ends up sounding too sterile so that's why I adopt a similar approach :-)

Beautiful.   Hear that little bit of slide on wood or fret noise?   I love it.   It just adds something good.
