Played on a DGBE tuned antique Ruy Lopez cedar cigar box guitar and an Iowa saxophone.

My theory is that this was a black folk's song (Alberta Alberta) that was 'whited up' for a white folks song.

Songs and music are often appropriated/borrowed/stolen from genre to genre and from usage to usage.

Darn, Dennis.  Sorry you can not make it.  I will send you two bottles -one to share with your friend, Borris.    We can not be held responsible for any side effects.

Thanks, AGP and DW.  The tonic should be carefully applied to the scalp- on small thimble and then massaged in by a pretty woman.  Then the rest of the bottle is to be consumed orally.

Good Old Timey Tune 'UJ', and nothing wrong with a harsh sounding CBG, they do suit some styles of songs, not sure abt the "Smilin' Jack" Hair Restorative Wonder Tonic though!, do you rub it on your head, or drink it!  :-D

Thanks, Daniel.  I look up to you.  Don't bang your head coming down the basement stairs to the music room.

Oh, I think the CBG world is morphing. Like cars. In this day you can't buy a "bad" car. And it's the same with all these new guitar builds. They are all nice! I just looked at the photos, would take me all day to tell the peeps how much I admire their craftsmanship. When I joined this site the water was knee deep. Now i'm standing up to my shoulders. And I'm 6' 6''. (or used to be). Kudos all, soon I'll be holding my breath.

Impressive. History repeats itself. I better start walking to get there by the second. John, just when we're all but lost, or are losing it, you keep us grounded. Thank you.

Thanks, Dennis.  I have a few folks coming over for a steam engine viewing and a jam.  Nice folks.  Good people.  You are invited.  Friday, August 2nd at 1030.   I am not sure what we are doing for lunch,

I sure like the look of this old Ruy Lopez box made into a CBG.  it plays pretty nice in Chicago tenor tuning (DGBE).  To me the sound is little 'harsh' , but likeable.  It has painted up fret markers - Dave Lynas style.    I have two options for this guitar - and I kind of hate to see it go- one is a sale at our church -where it might go dirt cheap- or to sell it on CBN for One Hundred U.S. dollars - USA contiguous 48 states only.
