Played on a DGBE tuned antique Ruy Lopez cedar cigar box guitar and an Iowa saxophone.

My theory is that this was a black folk's song (Alberta Alberta) that was 'whited up' for a white folks song.

Songs and music are often appropriated/borrowed/stolen from genre to genre and from usage to usage.

Thanks, Ross.  I have thought of you lately.  I've been painting!  Yup on most songs having relatives.

Very nice John, I know this song from the Mississippi  John Hurt version. Most old songs have old relatives

Thanks, Dave.  The flat sax comment worried me, but just briefly.  Good name!

Thanks, Andries.  It does ring, but sometimes it is the wrong number.  It may be operator error.

Thanks, Noisemaker.  A classic for sure.

Thanks, Bob.  Twant is the thang.

Thanks, Poorness.  I think Mr. Dylan did do this song.

I think Bob Dylan is jealous. ;-) Great job on the harp and the strummin' Uncle.

Delightful rendition. The twang from that R Lopez suits the song just fine... sepia... nice!

Great box guitar Uncle! Lopez. Nice hooch bottle too. Does liquid build stop come in bottles like that? Great vocal with your crooners vibrato. I like that. And your flat sax work is sweet. True 100% Uncle John.
