Thanks guys. Using these minis as basses is my surprise discovery. I like the ukulele basses but the cost of the tuners is 20$ each. My Chinese long shaft tuners are just 7$ a set of 6. I’m not the authority on basses though. Many Nation builders have made wonderful bass guitars way before me. My grandson Eric made a 2x4 two string bass many years ago that inspired me to get into the bass. My new basses have come from tweeting the fiddle into a longer and longer neck till this Cheroots Bass. The Cello strings came from necessity. I couldn’t get long enough violin strings for even a short neck fiddle so I went to viola strings. Still too short so I went to Cello strings. I could make a longer neck yet with the cello strings. I cut off about 8 inches of string for the Cheroots.

Another Fine Bass/Cello "Vintage Build" by a "Vintage Builder" Dave!, this one to my "Hearing Challenged Ears", definitely sounds more mellow than the Hobo, thanks for the info on the Box, and particularly the fact you used Cello Strings, something I often wondered about but never thought to ask!, you've now added another Build To Do to my list, a 2 String Bass with Cello Strings, but!, I think I'll leave the actual Cello Bowing side to the Master!  :-D
